Sheila Blackman, L.Ac. ~ E.A.M.P.I began my career in health care in 1988 as a massage therapist, after graduating with 1000 hours of training from one of the most comprehensive massage therapy schools in the U.S.: Dr. Jay Scherer's Academy of Natural Healing in Santa Fe New Mexico. Back in my home state of Alaska, I opened an office of therapeutic massage, which I maintained for 5 years.
This work brought me to a fuller realization of the miracle that the human body/mind is, and inspired me to go back to school to learn more so that I could better help people achieve the wellness we all deserve. I moved to Portland, Oregon, and attended Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM), graduating in 1996 with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. While there, I also studied Qi Gong at the instructor level and served a two-year internship at the OCOM Wellness Clinic and at the Portland Addictions Treatment Center. After graduation from OCOM, I passed the National Board Exams and received my Diplomate status from the National Certifying Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Through ongoing continuing education studies and personal development, I have maintained my Diplomate in Good Standing status since 1996. Since graduating, I have studied and incorporated into my acupuncture practice the methods and theories of some of the most notable leaders in modern acupuncture: Master Tung, Kiko Matsumoto, and Dr. Tan. Your health is my passion. I believe that through gentle and wise professional and self care, we can achieve the vibrant health that our bodies and minds are intended to have. I will offer you ways to educate yourself, and to learn to listen to your body in order to give yourself opportunity to grow and heal in the miraculous way that you are capable of. My professional practice and experience in holistic health care has spanned over 25 years. As an acupuncturist, I prefer having a general practice and am skilled the in treatment of a wide variety of conditions. I hope to make your clinic visit an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Besides being an acupuncturist, I am a watercolor artist and a member of the Snoqualmie Valley Art Gallery and the Mt. Si Art Guild. I enjoy bicycling the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, growing flowers in my garden, participating in the Cascade Community Theater group and supporting Radio Duvall and the Duvall Foundation for the Arts.
